So today’s plan was to just go to Track Shack and pick up my race packet then get an oil change. Then, more and more plans happened until finally, I did so much more.
Original plan:
What actually happened:
Looks like I deviated from the plan a bit. Luckily, since I felt like a fatty, I decided to go on a run in my neighborhood, which made me feel a little better. Ran about 1.5 miles then went to blog. Anyways, nice day with helloorganics drifting from my workout plan. Its all good lol
While at work, I got to thinking … I spend a lot of time just counting. What I do at work is make copies that go into a packet that nurses use when they go visit patients for home care. What I do is simple, and it involves a lot of counting. It got me thinking of all the counting I do nowadays.
Counting papers to make sure I made the right amount of packets.
Counting the minutes until work is done.
Counting papers for my next origami project (pictures soon)
Counting the days until optometry school.
Counting the tips at my other job.
Counting the seconds while running.
Counting the weight reps at the gym.
Counting the pounds lost since I started trying.
Counting the calories that I eat.
Counting the money I should be saving.
You see, my life has been all about counting recently. Seems fitting since my favorite subject is math. But in the end, I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. I’d much rather be counting than sitting and doing nothing. So, how many more days til school starts? …
Okay, so I posted an experiment earlier and lemme say that it actually is working. I have no idea why I didn’t record my weight before, but my weight now, as of this morning was 159.8. (my weight at the beginning was like 165 ish)
With this workout, I have been taking day breaks and I noticed that I am still maintaining my weight loss that started when I began this experiment like 2 weeks ago, I think. My boss was the one that told me about this and when I told him it was working, he started bragging that he was a fitness expert, it was so funny lol. So far, I’ve done about 5 of these workouts and I have already lost weight.
But anyways, the workout that I did isn’t anything new that no one has done before, its just something I haven’t done before. Maybe I should start P90x again. I remember stopping after week 4, but P90x was what actually started my weight loss goals and provided a catalyst for my exercise habits to the point where I could go to the gym and make my own workout without relying on a video. But I want to start the program again with me in better shape now than I was before to see if it will get me to meet my fitness goals.
Anyways, I’m gonna keep doing the experiment for a few more weeks, just until optometry school starts. Now that I have a weight posted, I can see what my weight is in August. For now, cya laterss
So I totally forgot about what else my blog was supposed to be about … Optometry school. I intended for my blog to be about my lifestyle change of weight loss, but I also intended for it to be a glimpse into the life of an optometry student for those who are interested in the field. So let me give a quick run-down of all that has happened since school started.
Basically, the best part about optometry school is the people you do it with. I think my class is pretty awesome and everyone is so helpful and friendly. Second, you need to put in the work to study, but you also need free-time to yourself that does not include studying. Me and my friend always go to Body Sculpting class on Sundays and Yoga on Mondays to break away from school. And we make sure that we go to the classes all the time, as if it is part of our schedule. I go to the gym at least three times a week in the mornings before lab or sometimes after classes.
If I have a big test coming up, it is best to space out your studying to accommodate all of your classes, but I tend to stick to concentrating on one test at a time. That way, my mind focuses on just that topic for the best grade. I also make sure that I utilize my time efficiently so that I have time to do other things too. I go home and visit Orlando at least once a month and also go out with friends during the week when people are free.
So basically, if you are considering optometry school, it is very do-able and you will have fun. Of course there are stresses, but that comes with any type of schooling. The main thing that they tell you to do is make time for something other than school. That is why I do things like races and fitness tests, or even fun things like dodgeball or beach days. Optometry school is a blast and I love it!
So I’m updating about the weeks to come. It’s finals week (or finals 2 weeks) and I’m on the road to a long study schedule ahead. And right in the middle of finals is Warrior Dash! I think its gonna be fun. I haven’t had a chance to run in a while so I hope I will be fine.
Story of my life: Study, Gym, Race, Laundry, Eat lol
Like I said before, I would post a workout for what to do while on vacation, without a gym. This sequence can be done before heading to the shower in the morning or at night before bed. I think it is important to get in some work out amongst all the eating and festivities of being on vacation. Here is workout A. I did this one today and will post my next one tomorrow.
Workout A (Complete in succession, with minimal break in between exercises)
Repeat this series 3 times and you should have a good workout. It doesn’t replace the gym but it is better than doing nothing, which is one thing vacations tend to provoke.
